Some day I found a picture with coloured plan of an office. There where desks with different saturation of green and red. The colour and intensity depend on successes or fails of the peoples sitting there. There wasn't puzzle of the two colours - success keeps at another. Losers stayed together as well.

I mention it because I think its impossible to work alone, without anybody to speak to. IRC can help, mailing lists or news can help, but there is nothing better then a guy who would listen to you for a while. Even if he is deaf and can't speak ;-)
